Mr Evans gave memory to Theodore Roosevelt’s comments on the KJV’s 300th anniversary in 1911, “The King James Version is a Magna Carta for the poor and oppressed: the most democratic book in the world”. Particularly apt as Parliament House has a permanent Magna Carta display no more than 40 metres away.
The exhibition touring nationally consists of Bibles solely owned by Bible Society Australia and is mounted in collaboration with St Mark’s National Theological Centre in Canberra where the Bibles are normally housed.
